Welcome: Facilitator’s Note, 25 October 2019

Dear Trust CoLab participants,

Welcome to the USP/MIT CCI Trust CoLab scenario development exercise. Thank you for your willingness to participate in this effort. I'm Jonathan Star, and I'll be facilitating this 4-week exercise (starting on October 28 and ending on November 24). Over this time, we will develop scenarios related to the question:

What developments will shape people’s health between now and 2040, and how will trust be critical in making sure these developments help people everywhere live longer and healthier?

You will join over 140 thought leaders from around the world, with a variety of expertise in the healthcare field – pharmacists, patient advocates, futurists, regulatory experts, government representatives, and researchers – in this important conversation.

Twenty years into the future is a long time. We could see plenty of surprises and unexpected developments, so please be creative as you think about the future. As you engage in the process, please respond based on all your experiences across medicine, healthcare and other fields. Broader and global viewpoints are particularly encouraged.

On most days throughout the exercise, I'll be sending out a facilitator's note. These will provide instructions about what (and how) to contribute at each phase. The notes will also contain brief summaries of the inputs so far and address any elements of the process that require clarification. Overall, my goal as a facilitator is to ensure you feel able and encouraged to contribute to the process. Each phase lasts about one week, so please contribute as you are able to during this time. The Trust CoLab is conducted entirely online so that you may fit it into your schedule in the best way possible.

As for immediate next steps:

·       Log in asap: You should have received an email from Trust CoLab (no-reply@trustcolab.org) with a unique log-in link (URL). Please follow the instructions in the email and then log in to the site asap. You will have to do this once on each device you plan on using. If you haven’t received the email, please contact admin@trustcolab.org.

·       Begin participating on Monday, Oct. 28: The first phase of activity will open at 6 a.m. Eastern US time on Monday, October 28. At that time, I will send out a note with specific instructions to get started on our first activities. Again, you can respond at your earliest convenience.

If at any point throughout the process you have questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thanks again for your time and I look forward to working with you
